But before I could continue, a series of impatient knocks banged loudly on the door leading to the playground.
“Don’t open that!” I screamed. “They’ll get into the classroom!”
“What are you talking about?” asked Mrs. Gladstone while marching toward the door.
I sprang from my chair and darted to the door. Placing my back against it, I held my arms out to keep her away.
“What are you doing, Carl? Move away from that door right this instant!”
